Tanéo links the four communes of Grand Nouméa with a small network of trunk lines and local lines. Here is how the lines are named, where the Néobus goes and when buses run.

How the lines are named

Lines starting with L are the main lines that link the communes with central Nouméa. The other lines (N1, N2, D2, D4, P1 and P2) are local lines that serve particular districts and feed the main lines. Most main lines serve Place Moselle, the central terminus at the southern edge of Nouméa's city centre, close to the municipal market and the Tanéo sales office.

Dumbéa Centre in Koutio is the second big hub, where Néobus line L1 meets lines L2, L7 and L8 and local lines D2, N2 and P1.

Néobus line L1

The Néobus is a bus rapid transit line that started service in October 2019. Line L1 runs from Place Moselle north through the city centre and along the expressway, then through Rivière-Salée to Koutio, Dumbéa Centre and Dumbéa town hall, and ends at the Médipôle, the main hospital of New Caledonia. Parts of the route have dedicated bus lanes, including a section built on the former railway line into Dumbéa.

Frequencies on line L1 were increased in the network change of 22 June 2026, when lines L7 and D4 were also adjusted.

Where the other main lines go

Line L3 links the university campus at Nouville with the Ouen Toro via the city centre, the Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata, and is the line for the southern beaches. Line L4 runs from the city centre via the Vallée du Tir and Magenta to Normandie, and line L5 via the Vallée des Colons and Montravel to Kaméré. Line L2 links Normandie with Mont-Dore, line L7 goes from the city centre via Dumbéa Centre and the Médipôle to Païta, and line L8 links Nouméa and Dumbéa with Mont-Dore, as far as Plum.

In Nouméa, local line N1 links Port de Magenta with the Ouen Toro via the city centre, Trianon and Anse Vata.

When buses run

In the timetables published by Tanéo, buses run from Monday to Saturday. On weekdays the first departures leave at around 5:00 am and the last trips start at around 6:00 pm; on Saturdays service runs from about 6:00 am to 6:00 pm with fewer trips. The current timetables show no Sunday service, so plan Sunday trips another way.

Some lines, such as L2, N2 and P1, have only a few trips a day. Always check the departure times for your stop on buses.app before you go.
