How do tickets work in Vorarlberg?
On 1 June 2026 VMOBIL replaced its 94 small fare cells with three zones. LOKAL covers the town where you start and its neighbouring towns. REGIO covers one of nine regions, and MAXIMO covers all of Vorarlberg. Within the zone and the time on your ticket you can ride buses and trains back and forth as often as you like.
The prices below were correct at the time of writing (October 2026). A LOKAL 60-minute ticket costs €2.40 and a LOKAL 24-hour ticket €4.60. REGIO costs €4.80 for 60 minutes and €9.20 for 24 hours. MAXIMO costs €9.60 for 120 minutes and €18.40 for 24 hours. Monthly tickets cost €35 (LOKAL), €70 (REGIO) and €140 (MAXIMO). The annual KlimaTicket VMOBIL for all of Vorarlberg costs €448, or €264 for LOKAL only. Dogs travel free.
One practical point: the LOKAL 24-hour ticket costs less than two 60-minute tickets, and it runs for 24 hours from the first ride, not until midnight. If you will come back more than an hour after you set out, buy the 24-hour ticket. Fares for each city are on the Dornbirn, Bregenz and Feldkirch tickets pages.
How do I travel between the three cities?
By train. The fastest connection from Dornbirn to Feldkirch in our data takes 20 minutes; see Dornbirn to Feldkirch. Departures to Bregenz are on the Dornbirn to Bregenz page. A LOKAL ticket only covers the starting town and its neighbours, so check which zone your trip needs before you buy.
