What it is
Rum has been distilled in Bundaberg since 1888, using molasses left over from the sugar mills of the surrounding cane fields. The distillery, with its polar bear mascot, has become a symbol of the town.
The visitor experience includes a museum on the history of the brand and the sugar industry, and guided tours through parts of the working site; tastings are for adults only.
Getting there by bus
Routes 608 and 609 run between the city centre and Bundaberg East; the stop Princess St at Cross Street is roughly ten minutes on foot from the distillery.
Both routes start from the stops on Woongarra Street in the city centre, and route 608 continues to Bargara on the coast.
