What it is
Queens Park was laid out in the 19th century next to the town centre and is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. Large fig trees and other specimen plantings shade its paths, and the ornate bandstand, a fountain and old cannons on the riverbank recall Victorian-era park design.
The park lies a few minutes’ walk from the Portside heritage precinct and the city hall, and the two are easily seen together.
Getting there by bus
The stops at City Hall on Kent Street are about five minutes away: Kent St at City Hall (routes 705 and 707) and Kent St opp City Hall (routes 701, 702, 703, 704, 706 and 707). John St at St Marys Primary School, on routes 701, 702, 704, 705, 706 and 707, is a similar distance.
Richmond Street at Kent Street, by the Mary Poppins statue, is also within an easy walk.
