What it is
The beach runs from the breakwater of Wollongong Harbour towards the mouth of Fairy Creek and is patrolled by surf lifesavers in the warmer months. The North Beach Bathers Pavilion, a brick building from the 1930s, houses a café and change rooms, and a rock pool sits at the southern end below the headland.
At the northern end are Stuart Park and, across Fairy Creek, Puckeys Estate, a coastal reserve with dunes and walking tracks, and the cycle path along the shore continues north towards the northern suburbs.
