The tekke grew around the tomb of Umm Haram, a relative of the Prophet Muhammad who, according to tradition, died here in the 7th century. The mosque in its present form dates from the early 19th century.
It is a place of worship: cover shoulders and knees and take off your shoes before entering the mosque.
