Which train lines run in Brisbane?
All lines meet in the inner city at Roma Street, Central and Fortitude Valley. Trains run north to Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula (Kippa-Ring), Shorncliffe, Doomben and Ferny Grove, south to Beenleigh and the Gold Coast, east to Cleveland and west to Ipswich, Rosewood and Springfield. The Airport line runs from the Domestic and International terminals through the city and on to the Gold Coast. The Sunshine Coast line continues north to Nambour and Gympie North. See all lines in the Brisbane timetables.
How do buses and busways work?
Many buses use separate busways with their own stations. The busiest stops in our data are Buranda, Griffith University and Roma Street busway stations. The high-frequency M1 runs from Eight Mile Plains to Roma Street, and M2 from UQ Lakes to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Night routes have numbers starting with N.
Where do the ferries go?
The CityCat (F1) runs the length of the river between Northshore Hamilton and the University of Queensland at St Lucia, stopping in the city centre and South Bank. Short cross-river ferries (F21 to F24) link the two banks, for example Bulimba with Teneriffe. Further out, F50 serves Coochiemudlo Island from Victoria Point, and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands ferries leave from Redland Bay.
How does the 50 cent fare work?
Every trip costs 50 cents on Queensland Rail City Train services, buses, Brisbane City ferries, trams and on-demand services, across all zones and times of day. You pay the same with a go card, a contactless credit or debit card or a paper ticket. Tap on and off. With a go card or contactless card you can make up to 3 transfers in one journey, each within 1 hour.
- Concessions and off-peak discounts do not apply, because everyone pays the flat fare.
- Children aged 4 and under travel free; children aged 5 to 14 travel free on weekends with a child go card.
- Buses are cashless. Top up a go card with cash at station machines or retailers.
- The fare does not apply on Airtrain to and from Brisbane Airport, which charges its own fares.
