What it is
The Romans knew Baden as Aquae, and bathing culture has shaped the town ever since. The Römertherme, opened in 1999, has one of the largest glass-roofed indoor thermal pool halls in Europe, with warm thermal water pools, whirlpools, a sauna area and outdoor pools. The sulphur water, which emerges at around 36 °C, is still used for medical treatments at the town's spa clinics.
The spa is right next to the Kurpark and the Brusattiplatz, a short walk from the old town.
Getting there by bus
The Brusattiplatz stop (lines B and C) is about 140 metres from the entrance, and Johannesbad (line 308) is close by. The Badner Bahn terminus at Josefsplatz is about five minutes' walk away.
The Beethoven House and the Hauptplatz are both within a few minutes.
