What it is
inatura opened in 2003 in the listed buildings of the old Rüsch works, a 19th-century engineering factory. Its exhibitions take visitors from the mountains to the waters of Lake Constance and the Rhine valley, with stuffed and live animals, and into the human body and the world of science through experiments that can be touched and tried. It also serves as the natural history research centre of Vorarlberg.
The museum is surrounded by the Kulturhaus park, a green space in the town centre with a playground.
Getting there by bus
The Inatura stop, served by lines 207 and L1, is about 130 metres from the entrance, and Schulgasse (line 207) is close by. The Marktplatz and Dornbirn railway station are each about ten minutes' walk away.
Dornbirn's city buses and the Vorarlberg regional buses share the same stops in the centre.
