What it is
The Karrenseilbahn climbs in a few minutes from the valley station in the Gütle direction to the top, where a restaurant and the Karren Kante, a platform that projects over the edge, look out across the Rhine valley to Switzerland, Germany and Lake Constance. On clear days the view reaches far into the Swiss Alps.
Several marked hiking trails lead back down to Dornbirn or on into the Bregenz Forest hills, and the descent through the Rappenloch gorge is a popular circuit.
Getting there by bus
Lines 177 and 207 stop at Karrenseilbahn, directly at the valley station. From the town centre the ride takes around ten minutes.
The Rolls-Royce Museum and the Rappenloch gorge are further up the valley on line 177.
