What it is
The church was rebuilt after a town fire and completed in 1478, with two naves of equal height under a delicate net vault – an unusual layout for the region. Its most famous treasure is the altarpiece of the Lamentation of Christ painted by Wolf Huber in 1521, and the wrought-iron pulpit canopy is a masterpiece of late Gothic metalwork. It became a cathedral when the diocese of Feldkirch was created in 1968.
The small Domplatz in front of the church is one of the quiet corners of the old town.
Getting there by bus
The Domplatz stop (lines 404 and 405) is right beside the church, and Schloßgraben (lines 406 and 408) is only a few steps away. Busplatz and Katzenturm, the main stops for all lines, are about 100 metres away.
Feldkirch railway station is about ten minutes' walk north of the old town.
