What it is

The Jesuits built the church between 1660 and 1665, and it is one of the most important early baroque buildings in Styria. The broad white facade with its two towers faces the Kirchplatz, and the interior has richly carved black-and-gold altars from the 17th and 18th centuries. After the Jesuit order was dissolved in 1773 the church became the town parish church.

The neighbouring former Jesuit college is now used by the town.

Getting there by bus

Lines 1, 2 and 4 stop at Waasenbrücke, about 200 metres away, and the Leoben Zentrum stop (lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 30 and 31) is a few minutes' walk. The Hauptplatz is just around the corner.

The Schwammerlturm is close by, at the Mur bridge.
