What it is
Work on the church began in 1443 under Hans Puchsbaum, and the elegant hall choir and the tabernacle recall his work in Vienna. The tower was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style after a fire in the 19th century and dominates the skyline of Steyr. Inside are Gothic stained-glass windows and a baroque altar.
The church stands on the terrace above the Stadtplatz, next to the former Dominican church and the old school buildings of the Brucknerplatz area.
Getting there by bus
City Point (lines 8, 8a and 8b) is about 110 metres away, and Schönauerbrücke and Promenade are close by; the Stadtplatz stop is a short walk down. Steyr railway station is about 12 minutes' walk.
The Stadtplatz and Schloss Lamberg are both within five minutes.
