What it is
The precinct brings together several institutions around a shared lawn. The Araluen Arts Centre has galleries of Central Australian art, including a collection of works by the Arrernte watercolour painter Albert Namatjira, as well as a theatre. The Museum of Central Australia covers the region's geology, meteorites and natural history, and the Central Australian Aviation Museum, in the town's old aerodrome hangar, tells the story of early flying in the Outback, including the Flying Doctor.
The neighbouring Alice Springs cemetery holds the graves of Albert Namatjira and the gold prospector Harold Lasseter.
Getting there by bus
Route AS400 stops at Op Araluen Arts Centre, about 180 metres from the precinct, and Memorial Drive, served by AS400 and AS401, is around 230 metres away.
Both routes start at the Alice Springs Interchange in the town centre. The precinct is also within walking distance of the centre, about 2 kilometres along Larapinta Drive.
