What it is
Avoca Beach is one of the best-known surf spots on the Central Coast, with a patrolled area in front of the surf club and quieter stretches towards the north. Avoca Lagoon, at the northern end, is shallow and calm and popular with families and paddlers.
The village behind the beach has cafés and shops, and the Avoca Beach Theatre, which has been screening films since the 1950s, is a local landmark. North Avoca, Terrigal and Copacabana are the neighbouring beaches along the coast.
Getting there by bus
Routes 66A and 66C, loop services from Gosford via Kincumber and Green Point, stop on Avoca Drive opposite Heazlett Park and at 156A Avoca Dr, a few minutes' walk from the beach, and route 66C also stops at Avoca Dr at Ficus Ave, closer to the sand.
Both routes start in Gosford, near the station on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.
