What it is
The town grew up around the narrow, shifting channel that links the large coastal lake system with the ocean. Memorial Park and the Waterfront Plaza line the shore of the channel, with shallow water that is popular for paddling, and a bridge crosses to The Entrance North.
The pelican feeding on the waterfront draws crowds every day, and ocean beaches lie on both sides of the channel mouth. The Entrance hosts festivals and markets on the waterfront through the year.
Getting there by bus
Many routes stop on Torrens Avenue at Coral St, close to the waterfront. Routes 14X and 15 run to Tuggerah and routes 16, 24, 25 and 26 to Wyong, both stations on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line, while routes 17, 18, 21, 22 and 23 go to Gosford.
Further stops are on Fairview Avenue and on The Entrance Road after Dening St.
