What it is
The curve of the bay keeps the surf gentle, so the patrolled section is good for swimming and for learning to surf. Hastings Street, lined with restaurants, boutiques and hotels, runs parallel to the beach, and a boardwalk links the beach with the entrance of Noosa National Park at the eastern end.
From there the coastal track leads around the headland past rocky bays and lookouts, where koalas and, in season, dolphins and whales can sometimes be seen.
Getting there by bus
Noosa Heads station, the bus interchange near the western end of Hastings Street, is served by routes 620, 626, 627, 629, 630 and 631; it is about 800 metres from the middle of the beach. Route 620 runs along the coast to Peregian Beach, Coolum and Maroochydore, and routes 630 and 631 go inland to Eumundi and Nambour, where trains to Brisbane depart.
The stop Noosa Pde at Witta Circle is a little closer for the eastern part of the beach.
