According to myth, Aphrodite rose from the sea foam here. The Greek name, “Rock of the Greek”, comes from a legend about the Byzantine hero Digenis Akritas throwing the rock at invaders.
The beach is made of pebbles and the sea can be rough; swim only when conditions are calm. It is especially beautiful at sunset.
