What it is
The Carinthian estates built the Landhaus between 1574 and 1594 on the site of the ducal castle, with two towers and an arcaded courtyard open on the side facing the town. The Great Hall of Arms was painted in the 1740s by Josef Ferdinand Fromiller with the coats of arms and a ceiling fresco showing the homage to the duke on the Prince's Stone, the ancient enthronement ceremony of Carinthia; the hall can be visited when the parliament is not sitting.
The courtyard is open to the public and is used for concerts and events in summer.
Getting there by bus
Heiligengeistplatz, the main hub of the Klagenfurt bus network, is right beside the Landhaus: lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 20, A, B, C and X2 all stop here.
The Dragon Fountain on Neuer Platz is a three-minute walk away, and Alter Platz, the oldest square in the city, is just to the east.
