What it is
Minimundus opened in 1958 and has grown steadily ever since; the models, from St. Peter's in Rome and the Eiffel Tower to the Sydney Opera House and the Taj Mahal, are built as faithfully as possible from the original materials. Model trains and ships move through the grounds, and an indoor area with changing exhibitions keeps the park worth a visit on rainy days.
The park is run by a charitable association and its proceeds support children's charity projects. The season runs from spring to autumn.
Getting there by bus
Minimundus is on Villacher Straße in the Europapark area, about 3 km west of the city centre. Buses 4 and C stop at Europapark and lines 2, 9, 10, 20 and C at Walter-Dermuth-Straße, both less than 200 metres from the entrance; the ride from Heiligengeistplatz takes around 15 minutes.
The Wörthersee lido and the Europapark are a short walk away, so a day by the lake combines easily.
