What it is
Three floors of galleries in the old Carroll's tobacco bonded warehouse tell the story of Louth: archaeology and early Christian stones, the Cúchulainn legends of the area, the Great Northern Railway works and the town's factories, including the Heinkel bubble car built in Dundalk in the 1950s. Temporary exhibitions change through the year and entry is free.
The Basement Gallery hosts local art shows.
Getting there by bus
The museum is on Jocelyn Street, a two-minute walk from the Market Square and St Patrick's church. Buses through the town centre stop at Roden Place, just around the corner, and the bus station on the Long Walk is five minutes away.
The railway station is a 15-minute walk west along the Carrick Road.
