What it is
George Goldie designed the cathedral in a Norman-Romanesque style unusual for Ireland, with a squat tower and round-arched arcades. The stained glass by Lobin of Tours fills the nave with colour, and the building faces the Church of Ireland cathedral of St John across the street — a rare pairing.
It is open during the day outside Mass times.
Getting there by bus
The cathedral is on Temple Street on the west side of the centre, five minutes' walk from O'Connell Street and eight from the bus and railway station. Town buses along John Street stop a couple of minutes away (John Street stop).
St John's Cathedral, where W. B. Yeats's parents were married, is directly opposite.
