What it is
The Yeats room holds letters, photographs, the poet's Nobel medal citation and first editions, while the main gallery covers Sligo from the passage tombs of Carrowmore to the War of Independence, with a display on Constance Markievicz, who grew up at nearby Lissadell. It is housed in a former manse next to the library.
A visit takes under an hour and pairs with the Yeats statue and the Yeats Society building by the river.
Getting there by bus
The museum is on Stephen Street on the north bank of the Garavogue, three minutes' walk from the Hyde Bridge and five from the bus and railway station. Town buses stop at Markievicz Road nearby (Sligo Markievicz stop).
It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
