What it is
Questacon started as a small science centre in a disused school building and moved to its present home in 1988; the building was a joint gift from the governments of Australia and Japan for the bicentenary. Its galleries are arranged around a central ramp that spirals up through a cylindrical core.
The exhibits let visitors experiment with physics, the human body, earthquakes and lightning, and there is a free-fall slide and spaces designed for young children. Questacon also runs science shows and travelling exhibitions across Australia.
