What it is
Founded in 1968 by Father Pat Ahern, Siamsa Tíre tells stories of the farming year — threshing, the forge, the fair — through dance and song in Irish, without spoken narration, so anyone can follow. The summer season runs from May to September, and the building, modelled on a ring fort, also has a gallery and hosts touring theatre and music the rest of the year.
Booking ahead is advisable in July and August.
Getting there by bus
The theatre is on the edge of the Town Park beside the Ashe Memorial Hall, two minutes from Denny Street and the Square. Town buses stop on Denny Street (Tralee Denny Street stop), and the bus and railway station is a ten-minute walk.
The Kerry County Museum is next door for an afternoon before the show.
