What it is
Roberts, a local architect who also designed the Catholic cathedral a few streets away, gave the building a light neoclassical interior with Corinthian columns and stucco. The most talked-about object is the cadaver tomb of James Rice, a fifteenth-century mayor shown as a decaying corpse, and the foundations of the earlier cathedral are visible in the crypt.
Summer evening light shows and concerts use the building's excellent acoustics.
Getting there by bus
The cathedral is on Cathedral Square between the Mall and Henrietta Street, three minutes from Reginald's Tower and five from the bus station. City buses on the Mall stop a minute away (The Mall stop).
The Medieval Museum shares the square.
