What it is
The museum is Ireland's only purpose-built medieval museum. Its treasures are the Great Charter Roll of 1373, with the earliest painted images of Irish towns, the only full set of medieval church vestments to survive in northern Europe, hidden from Cromwell's troops and rediscovered in 1773, and the sword and cap of maintenance given by Henry VIII.
The Mayor's Wine Vault below is a rare survival of the merchant city.
Getting there by bus
The museum is on Cathedral Square beside Christ Church Cathedral, three minutes' walk from Reginald's Tower and five from the bus station. City buses on the Mall stop a minute away (The Mall stop).
