What it is
Crystal has been made in Waterford since 1783. On the factory tour you watch blowers shaping the pieces in wooden moulds, cutters marking and cutting the patterns by hand, and engravers working on trophies — the Waterford factory makes the crystal ball for New York's Times Square. The tour ends in the largest showroom of Waterford Crystal in the world.
Production runs on weekdays; weekend tours show the process without the full workshop in action.
Getting there by bus
The House is on the Mall, opposite Reginald's Tower and five minutes' walk from the bus station on Merchants Quay. City buses along the Quay and Parnell Street stop a minute away (Parnell Street stop).
It pairs naturally with the three Waterford Treasures museums on the same street.
