What it is
Bicentennial Park runs along the Esplanade between the city centre and the harbour, with lawns, tropical trees and lookouts over the water. It holds several memorials, including the Darwin Cenotaph and memorials to the bombing of Darwin on 19 February 1942, when Japanese air raids struck the town and harbour – the first and largest attacks on mainland Australia during the Second World War.
A path leads down the cliff to Lameroo Beach, a small sheltered cove, and the park is a popular place to watch the sunset.
Getting there by bus
