What it is

The park is a mix of formal gardens, a pond, lawns and mature trees along the river, with the Father Mathew fountain from the exhibition at its centre. The Cork Public Museum in the Georgian house tells the city's story from the Vikings to the War of Independence and is free.

Daly's Bridge, the pedestrian suspension bridge everyone calls the Shakey Bridge, crosses from the park to Sunday's Well and does still wobble.

Getting there by bus

The park is on the Mardyke, about 20 minutes' walk west of Patrick Street past University College Cork. Buses along Western Road stop at UCC, five minutes from the park gates (UCC Gaol Cross and Western Road stops).

UCC's quadrangle and the Glucksman gallery are next door, and the City Gaol is across the Shakey Bridge.
