What it is
Most of the park is native bushland, set aside as a public reserve in the 1870s. The Western Australian Botanic Garden inside it shows plants from across the state, and in spring the wildflower displays are a major draw. The Lotterywest Federation Walkway, partly a glass-and-steel bridge through the treetops, crosses the garden.
Near Fraser Avenue stand the State War Memorial with its eternal flame and the Pool of Reflection, the old tea pavilion and the main lookouts towards the city and the river.
Getting there by bus
The free Blue CAT and route 935 run into the park along Fraser Avenue, with stops at Fraser Avenue, the Old Tea Pavilion and, for the Blue CAT, Wadjuk Way next to the war memorial. Route 935 also stops at Wadjuk Way - Kings Park War Memorial.
The Purple CAT and routes 24, 27 and 103 run along Kings Park Road on the eastern edge of the park, with stops at Thomas Street, Outram Street and Dumas House.
