What it is
Built when Brisbane's port was still on the river in the city centre, the Customs House is one of the city's oldest surviving public buildings. Its classical design with a green copper dome made it a landmark for ships coming upstream. Customs moved out in the 1980s, and the University of Queensland restored the building, which reopened in 1994.
Today it is used for functions, exhibitions and dining, and its riverside lawn faces the Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point.
