What it is
The bridge has one of the largest steel arches in the world, with granite-faced pylons at each end. One of the south-eastern pylons, the Pylon Lookout, has a small exhibition on the construction and a viewing platform, and guided climbs lead over the top of the arch.
The footway on the eastern side is free to walk and gives views of the Opera House and Circular Quay; the cycleway runs along the western side. Access stairs on the city side are in The Rocks, and on the north side the footway ends near Milsons Point Station.
Getting there by bus
On the north shore, Milsons Point Station on the T1 and T9 lines sits right at the northern end of the bridge, and Milsons Point Wharf below it is served by ferries F3, F4 and F8. Buses stop at Milsons Point Wharf, Alfred St Sth and at Olympic Dr before Alfred St, used by routes such as 203, 209, 230, 269, 286 and 287.
On the city side, the footway can be reached from The Rocks, about ten minutes' walk from Circular Quay Station and the ferry wharves.
