What it is

Twenty themed galleries cover why people left — famine, work, persecution, adventure — and where they ended up, from Argentine presidents to Australian bushrangers, with a strong focus on music, sport and literature. Everything is touchscreen and audio, so allow about 90 minutes.

The Jeanie Johnston famine ship is moored on the quay outside and can be toured separately, and the Famine Memorial sculptures stand a few metres away.

Getting there by bus

EPIC is on Custom House Quay, ten minutes' walk east of O'Connell Street along the river. Buses along the north quays stop at Seán O'Casey Bridge and the Custom House, and the George's Dock Luas stop on the Red Line is directly behind the building.

Connolly Station is five minutes on foot, which makes it an easy first stop if you arrive by train.
