What it is
The ground hosted its first Test match in 1884 and was redeveloped in the 2010s into a modern stadium for both cricket and AFL football. The manually operated scoreboard from 1911 and the Moreton Bay fig trees at the northern end were kept, and the hill behind them remains a traditional place to watch the cricket.
On non-match days there are stadium tours and the RoofClimb over the stands, and the Bradman Collection museum is dedicated to the cricketer Sir Donald Bradman.
Getting there by bus
Buses along King William Road stop at Stop 1 King William Rd on both sides of the road, a few minutes' walk from the southern gates, with routes such as 222, 224, 228 and 229F; the Sir Edwin Smith Avenue stops on the other side are served by routes 200 to 208.
From the city, the Riverbank footbridge leads from the Festival Plaza tram stop and Adelaide Railway Station across the Torrens to the stadium in about ten minutes. On match days extra AO-numbered event buses stop on King William Road.
