What it is
The square, also known by its Kaurna name Tarntanyangga, is crossed by King William Street and the Glenelg tram. Around it stand the General Post Office, the Treasury Building, the Supreme Court, the Catholic St Francis Xavier's Cathedral and the Torrens Building. A statue of Queen Victoria and a fountain representing three of the state's rivers are among its monuments.
The square is used for festivals and public events, and the Central Market is a block to the west.
Getting there by bus
The Victoria Square tram stop on the Glenelg line is in the middle of the square. Buses stop all around it, for example on Pulteney Street at Stop S1 and Stop G1 and on Wakefield Street at Stop T1, with routes such as 190, 196, 230, 232 and 801.
From Adelaide Railway Station the tram takes only a few minutes along King William Street.
