What it is
Moseley Square, between the end of Jetty Road and the jetty, is the heart of Glenelg, with the Town Hall of 1875 and the Pioneer Memorial. The beach stretches north and south along Holdfast Bay, and the jetty is a popular spot for walks and fishing. The Old Gum Tree, where the proclamation of the province was read in 1836, stands in the nearby suburb of Glenelg North.
Jetty Road, the main street leading inland from the square, is lined with shops, cafés and restaurants.
Getting there by bus
Glenelg is the terminus of Adelaide's tram line, and the Moseley Square stop is right on the square by the beach; trams run from the city via Victoria Square, King William Street and the Festival Plaza.
The Glenelg Interchange on Moseley Street, a couple of minutes away, is served by buses including routes 167, 168, 190, 265 and 300.
